Ryan N. Bookout, PharmD BCOP BCPS, is a Clinical Pharmacist at the Moffitt Cancer Center and Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida in the Department of Pharmacotherapeutics and Clinical Research. His primary role is working in direct patient care as an inpatient and outpatient clinical pharmacist in Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Before moving to Florida, Dr. Bookout was an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy with an inpatient oncology practice at UPMC-Shadyside.

Dr. Bookout received his Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Wake Forest University and his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and his PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University Hospital- Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (now the University Of Cincinnati Medical Center- UC Health). He has been a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist since 2006 and a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2011.

Ryan’s path through oncology pharmacy has been paved with many cherished mentors. Drs. Donald Harvey and John Valgus began mentoring him in oncology during his rotation as a PY4 at UNC-CH. Dr. Jane Pruemer inspired and kept Ryan driven throughout his PGY2 residency program at UC through her caring, compassion, and passion for patient care and teaching. Dr. Moe Schwartz showed Ryan that you can take care of patients, teach, mentor and live all while keeping laughter a huge part of your repertoire.
