Kamakshi Rao, PharmD, BCOP, CPC, FASHP, FHOPA is Director of Pharmacy for Oncology and Infusion Services at the University of North Carolina Medical Center and an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Kamakshi started her career as an oncology/investigational drug services pharmacist and bone marrow transplant specialist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She then joined UNC Medical Center, where she gained experience in both inpatient and ambulatory care, primarily working in the areas of leukemia, lymphoma, and stem cell transplant.
Kamakshi helped establish ambulatory clinical pharmacy services in the adult stem cell transplant clinic at UNC Medical Center and pioneered a practice module focused on providing care across the practice continuum.
Kamakshi is a longtime PGY1 Residency Program Director and currently serves as the Manager for Academic Enterprises at UNC Medical Center. Her leadership oversight has grown to include residents, student learners, academic partnerships, and the management of Adult Acute and Ambulatory Clinical Services.
She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the Rutgers University College of Pharmacy. She then completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the VCU Health System and a 2-year Oncology and Clinical Research Fellowship at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Kamakshi's research and practice interests focus on educational advancement and workforce engagement. She is passionate about mentorship and training, and is a certified professional leadership coach.
